Carroll Shelby, the car designer and auto racing driver who built the legendary Shelby Cobra sports car, passed away on Thursday at a Dallas hospital at age 89.
Mr. Shelby, whose passing was reported on Friday, had received a heart transplant in 1990 and a kidney transplant in 1996.
Carroll was inducted in 1992 into the Automobile Hall of Fame.
