Independence Bowl: Seminoles Too Much For Southern Miss

At Shreveport, Louisiana:

Quarterback James Blackman completed 18 of 26 passes for 233 yards and four touchdowns as the Florida State Seminoles (7-6) capped off what was a very tough season for them (by their standards) by blowing out the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (8-5) 42-13 in Wednesday's Independence Bowl, in Odell Haggins' swan song as the Seminoles' interim head coach (ex-Oregon head coach Willie Taggert was already tagged to be the permanent successor to the departed Jimbo Fisher).
