WARRIORS HOLD OFF CAVALIERS TO WIN SECOND NBA TITLE IN THREE YEARS; KEVIN DURANT NAMED SERIES MVP

At Oakland, California:

Kevin Durant (named series Most Valuable Player) scored 39 points on Monday while Stephen Curry (shown here celebrating with Draymond Green) added 34 (to go with his ten assists) as the Golden State Warriors defeated the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers 129-120 in game five of the NBA Finals and won their second NBA title in three years four games to one as they avenged their title series defeat from last year at the hands of the Cavaliers.

Andre Iguodala added 20 points to the Warriors' coffers.

For the now ex-champs, LeBron James scored 41 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and dished out eight assists, while Kyrie Irving added 26 points and J. R. Smith 25.

This marked the fifth league championship for the Warriors (Philadelphia:  1947 [BAA], 1956; Golden State: 1975, 2015, and 2017).
