Freshman quarterback Sam Darnold passed for 453 yards and four touchdowns while Matt Boermeester converted a 46-yard field goal as time expired on Monday as the Southern California Trojans (10-3; #9 in the CFP rankings and both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches polls) came back from down 14 points with nine minutes remaining to upend the Penn State Nittany Lions (11-3; #5 CFP, AP, Coaches) 52-49 in the highest-scoring Rose Bowl Game in history.
