Farewell, Mary

Mary Tyler Moore, the actress, whom, prior to 1970, was already best known for her role as a TV comedy show's head writer's wife on The Dick Van Dyke Show (CBS, 1961-66), but who would best be remembered for starring in the ground-breaking CBS Network sitcom The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970-77) ,in which she played a single woman who was an associate producer, then producer, at a fictitious Minneapolis TV station's news department, passed away on Wednesday, a month after her 80th birthday.

According to her family, Miss Moore's  passing at a Greenwich, Connecticut hospital was caused by cardiopulmonary arrest after she had contracted pneumonia.
