NFL Playoffs: Falcons, Pats Advance To Conference Title Games

Two games were played on Sunday as the divisional round of the National Football League playoffs commenced.

NATIONAL FOOTBALL CONFERENCE:

At Atlanta:

Quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 338 yards and three touchdowns as the Atlanta Falcons wore down the visiting Seattle Seahawks 36-20. Next Sunday the Falcons will either host the Green Bay Packers or visit the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Championship Game (12:00 Pacific Time, FOX).



AMERICAN FOOTBALL CONFERENCE:

At Foxborough, Massachusetts:

Running back Dion Lewis caught a 13-yard pass for a touchdown, ran back a kickoff 98 yards for another score, and ran for a late touchdown from one yard out as the New England Patriots held off the visiting Houston Texans 34-16 to earn the right to host next Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the winner of the Pittsburgh-Kansas City contest (3:30 PM Pacific Time, CBS).
