Timbers and Rapids Gather Goose Eggs In Colorado

At Commerce City, Colorado:

In one of three Independence Day Major League Soccer contests, in first MLS game since 2003 (when he was with the then-New York/New Jersey MetroStars), after 13 years in the English Premier League (with Manchester United, then Everton), goalkeeper Tim Howard pitched a shutout as the Portland Timbers (with Jake Gleeson doing likewise for the second time this season) battled to a 0-0 stalemate.

The Timbers' next match is this coming Sunday at Harrison, New Jersey against the New York Red Bulls (the ex-MetroStars) 3:00 PM Pacific Time (ESPN 2).
