Noel Neill, Who Played Lois Lane In 1950's "Superman" TV Series, R.I.P.

Noel Neill, one of two actresses who portrayed Daily Planet reporter (and Clark Kent's colleague) Lois Lane on the 1950's television series The Adventures of Superman, passed away on Sunday at age 95 at her Tucson, Arizona home.

Miss Neill, who played Lois in a pair of Columbia Pictures theatrical serials, Superman (1948) and Atom Man vs. Superman (1950) opposite Kirk Alyn (who played Clark/Superman), replaced Phyllis Coates (who's still with us at age 89) in the role of Lois opposite George Reeves in 1953, one year after the syndicated TV series began.

It ended in 1958.  There were plans to revive the series, but they were halted by Mr. Reeves' suicide in 1959.

Before she began playing Lois, Noel appeared in some forty motion pictures.
