Stanley Cup Playoffs: Blackhawks, Blues, Ducks Open Things Up With Series-Opening Home Wins

The National Hockey League's Stanley Cup Playoffs got under way with three games on Tuesday, all played in the Western Conference.

At Chicago:

Bryan Bickell scored the winning goal at 16:35 of the first overtime period as the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the visiting Minnesota Wild 2-1 in game one of their conference quarterfinal series.

At St. Louis:

Alex Steen scored twice, once on the power play in the first period, then again, shorthanded, at 13:26 of the first overtime period as the St. Louis Blues defeated the visiting Los Angeles Kings 2-1 in the opening contest of their opening-round series.

At Anaheim, California:

Power-play goals from Nick Bonino (first period) and Teemu Selanne (third period) as well as a solid goaltending performance from Jonas Hiller (stopping 21 of 22 shots) carried the Anaheim Ducks to a first-round series-opening 3-1 home win over the Detroit Red Wings.
