In the lone Sunday Major League Soccer contest, Diego Valeri successfully converted a pair of penalty kicks (82', 90'+1) while Lucas Melano added a goal (64') as the Portland Timbers battled back from a 2-0 halftime deficit and upended the visiting Houston Dynamo 3-2 to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to six games.
Andrew Wenger (28') and Will Bruin (30', his 50th career MLS tally) delivered the guests' goals.
The Timbers will host the Los Angeles Galaxy this coming Wednesday in a US Open Cup Round of 16 contest at 7:30 PM Pacific Time.
Portland's next MLS match is set for Independence Day at Commerce City, Colorado against the Colorado Rapids (6:00 PM Pacific Time, ROOT Sports Northwest).
