Timbers Blank Quakes For First Shutout Of Season

At Portland, Oregon:

In their final Major League Soccer contest before Friday's opening of the Copa America tournament, the Portland Timbers, with Liam Ridgewell scoring the only goal of the match in the 11th minute, and with Jake Gleeson making three saves to preserve his, and the Timbers', first shutout of the season, defeated the visiting San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 on Wednesday.

The Timbers played the second half with ten men after midfielder Dairon Asprilla was ejected via the red card after delivering an elbow to the head of San Jose's Jordan Stewart during first-half stoppage time.

The Timbers will host those same Earthquakes in a US Open Cup fourth-round match on Tuesday, June 14 at 7:30 PM Pacific Time.

Portland's next MLS match is at Sandy, Utah against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, June 18 at 7:00 PM Pacific Time (ROOT Sports Northwest).
