Al Arbour, the Hall of Fame coach who led the New York Islanders to four consecutive Stanley Cup championships (1980-83), passed away on Friday at age 82.
A former defenseman who played for the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, and St. Louis Blues, Mr. Arbour will be best remembered for his long and successful stint as head coach of the New York Islanders.
Al would go on to win 782 games as a National Hockey League head coach, second only to Scotty Bowman.
