Bud Yorkin, the producer who teamed up with Norman Lear to help forge a new brand of television situation comedy in the 1970s, passed away at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles from natural causes at age 89.
Mr. Lear and Mr. Yorkin, who formed Tandem Productions, developed All In the Family and Sanford and Son (with both shows adapted from British TV series, and with the former giving birth to Maude (and that show giving birth to Good Times )and The Jeffersons.
