Grey Cup Playoffs: Alouettes, Eskimos Advance To Division Finals; Riders Detrhoned

The Canadian Football League's Grey Cup Playoffs commenced on Sunday with two games.

At Montreal:

Six different players scored a grand total of seven touchdowns as the Montreal Alouettes demolished the visiting British Columbia Lions 50-17 in the Eastern Division semifinal game.  The Als will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats next Sunday in the Eastern Division final (10:00 AM Pacific Time, ESPN in the United States, TSN in Canada).



At Edmonton, Alberta:

A punt return of 88 yards for a touchdown by Kendial Lawrence coupled with a stingy defense that picked off quarterback Kerry Joseph five times enabled the Edmonton Eskimos to detrone the defending Grey Cup champions Saskatchewan Roughriders 18-10 at home in the Western Conference semifinal game.  The Eskimos will visit the Calgary Stampeders in next Sunday's Western Division final (1:30 PM Pacific Time, TSN in Canada).
