In the National Football League regular-season opener for both teams, quarterback Colin Kaepernick threw for a career-high 412 yards and three touchdowns, two to Vernon Davis and one to newcomer Anquan Boldin (who caught 13 passes for 412 yards) while Frank Gore ran for the game-winning TD with 5:47 remaining in regulation as the San Francisco 49ers defeated the visiting Green Bay Packers 34-28.
