ACLS: TIGERS BLAST YANKEES, COMPLETE SWEEP, WIN AL PENNANT

At Detroit:

Max Scherzer pitched 5 1/3 Innings of 2-hit baseball, while Miguel Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta (who also hit a solo shot in the eighth inning) each hit a two-run homer in a four-run fourth inning as the Detroit Tigers demolished the visiting New York Yankees 8-1 in game four of the American League Championship series, enabling the Tigers to complete a four-game sweep and lock up their eleventh American League pennant, their first since 2006.  The Tigers will open the upcoming World Series next Wednesday at St. Louis or San Francisco.  The Tigers' Delmon Young was named series Most Valuable Player.
