Stanley Cup Playoffs: Rangers, Kings Take Series Openers

The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued on Saturday with two games.


EASTERN CONFERENCE:


At New York:


Despite being held to 14 shots on goal, the New York Rangers, with goals from Artem Anisimov, Chris Kreider, and Brad Richards, defeated the Washington Capitals 3-1 at home in the opening game of their conference semifinal series.


WESTERN CONFERENCE:


At St. Louis:


Slava Voynov, Matt Greene (shorthanded), and Dustin Penner (empty net) each scored once while Jonathan Quick stopped 28 of 29 shots as the Los Angeles Kings, on the road, downed the St. Louis Blues 3-1 in the opening match of their conference semifinal series.
