Stanley Cup Playoffs: Predators Eliminate Red Wings; Penguins Force Game Six Against Flyers

The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued on Friday with two games.


EASTERN CONFERENCE:


At Pittsburgh:


Steve Sullivan (power play), Jordan Staal, and Tyler Kennedy each scored a goal and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 24 of 26 shots as the Pittsburgh Penguins averted elimination with a 3-2 home win over the Philadelphia Flyers in the fifth game of their conference quarterfinal series, which the Flyers (who can still wrap up the series at home on Sunday) still lead three games to two.


WESTERN CONFERENCE:


At Nashville:


David Legwand scored the winning goal 13 seconds into the third period as the Nashville Predators became the first team to advance to the second round of the playoffs with their 2-1 home win in game five of their opening-round series with the Detroit Red Wings, enabling the Predators to win the series four games to one.
