American League Divisional Playoffs: Rangers Finish Off Rays To Return To ALCS; Yanks Bash Tigers To Force Game Five Back Home

The American League divisional playoffs continued with two Tuesday affairs.

At Saint Petersburg, Florida:

Adrian Beltre belted three home runs (in three straight at bats) as the Texas Rangers held off the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 in game four of their divisional playoff series and finished off their opponents three games to one.  The Rangers advanced to their second straight AL Championship Series.

At Detroit:

A. J. Burnett (who started and pitched 5 2/3 innings) and three other pitchers surrendered only four base hits while Curtis Granderson made two key catches in the outfield as the New York Yankees erupted for six runs in the eighth inning en route to a 10-1 road fistbeating of the Detroit Tigers in game four of their divisional playoff series.  The fifth and deciding game will take place back in the Bronx on Thursday.
