Stanley Cup Playoffs: Lightning Force Game Seven With Penguins; Sharks Finish Off Kings In OT

Two more games were played in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Monday.


Eastern Conference:


At Tampa, Florida:


41-year-old goalie Dwayne Rolonson stopped 27 of 29 shots while Steve Downie and Ryan Malone scored third-period goals to break a 2-2 deadlock as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins to force a seventh and deciding game in their conference quarterfinal series.  The Penguins continued to struggle on the power play, failing on all five attempts and going 1 for 30 in the series.


Western Conference:


At Los Angeles:


Joe Thornton scored the winning goal at 2:22 of overtime as the San Jose Sharks eliminated the Los Angeles Kings in six games following their 4-3 game-six triumph on the road.
