Colby Lewis pitched eight innings of solid three-hit baseball and a four-run fifth inning pretty much put the game out of reach as the Texas Rangers defeated the New York Yankees 6-1 to win the American League Championship Series four games to two and captured their first-ever league championship (and first World Series berth) in their 50-year history (they were the expansion-era Washington Senators from 1961 until moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 1972).
