Joe Johnson scored 23 points while Jamal Crawford added 19 coming off the bench as the Atlanta Hawks advanced to the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs for the third straight year following their 84-81 home win in game six of their conference quarterfinal series with Orlando, eliminating the Magic four games to two, this despite a 25-point, 15-rebound night from Orlando's Dwight Howard. The Hawks will take on the Chicago Bulls in a conference semifinal series which starts this coming Monday night in Chicago.

Time For A Charlie Chan Movie
From Monogram Pictures in 1946, here is Sidney Toler starring as Charlie Chan in "Dark Alibi." In this one, three men are convicted of bank robbery, the main evidence against them being that their fingerprints were found at the scene. However, Charlie Chan believes them to be innocent. His investigation reveals that they are indeed innocent and that their fingerprints were forged and planted in the prison files to frame them. Then, Charlie sets out to uncover the real bank robbers. Mantan Moreland, Ben Carter, Benson Fong, Teala Loring, George Holmes, Joyce Compton, John Eldredge, Russell Hicks, and Tim Ryan were also in the cast. With original screenplay by George Callahan, based on the character created by Earl Derr Biggers, this picture was produced by James S. Burkett and directed by Phil Karlson.

Hall of Fame fullback Joe "The Jet" Perry who played sixteen seasons in professional football (1948-63), all but two of them with the San Francisco 49ers, passed away on Monday morning at age 84.
Mr. Perry became the first player in National Football League history to run for 1,000 or more yards in back-to-back seasons (1953, 1954). He was part of what was called the "Million Dollar Backfield" which included quarterback Y. A. Tittle and fellow running backs Hugh McElhenny and John Henry Johnson, all of whom are enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1969, six years after his retirement, Joe ran for 9,723 career yards. He made three Pro Bowls and led the Niners in rushing seven times.

Lou Williams, who scored 17 points, connected on the go-ahead three-pointer with 8.1 seconds remaining as the Philadelphia 76ers avoided a four-game sweep of their first-round series with a 86-82 game-four home win over the Miami Heat, cutting the series deficit to three games to one. This after the 76ers were trailing by six points with 95 seconds left.
