WCC Tournament: Zags, Cougars (Who Knock Off Gaels) Advance To Final

Both games of the West Coast Conference's Men's Basketball Tournament's semifinal round were contested on Monday at the Orleans Arena in Paradise, Nevada.

In the opener, Killian Tillie scored 26 points (while converting all five three-point shots) as the top-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs (ranked #6 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches polls; 29-4) buried the fourth-seeded San Francisco Dons (18-15) 88-60.

The Bulldogs will play in their 21st consecutive WCC Tournament final on Tuesday.

Yoeli Childs scored a career-high 33 points as the third-seeded BYU Cougars (24-9) knocked off the second-seeded Saint Mary's Gaels (#19 in the Coaches' poll, #20 in the AP rankings; 28-5) 85-72 in the nightcap.

Elijah Bryant added 25 points to the Cougars' coffers.

Jordan Ford, with 27 points, and Jock Landale, with 23, topped the Gaels in scoring.



The Bulldogs and Cougars will meet in Tuesday's championship game (6:00 PM Pacific Time, ESPN), with that game's winner advancing to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

WCC Tournament: Zags, Gaels, BYU, Dons Advance To Semifinals

The quarterfinal round of the West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament took place on Saturday at the Orleans Arena in Paradise, Nevada with four games.

In the opener, Elijah Bryant and Yoeli Childs combined to score 49 points as the #3-seeded BYU Cougars (23-9) defeated  sixth-seeded San Diego (18-13) 85-79.

Isaiah Pineiro scored 21 points and Olin Carter III added 20 to pace the Toreros.

In game two, Killian Tillie scored 24 points while Jonathan Williams added 20 as the top-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs (ranked #7 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches polls; 28-4) downed the eighth-seeded Loyola Marymount Lions (11-20) 83-69.

In the third contest, Frankie Ferrari scored 17 points as the fifth-seeded San Francisco Dons (18-14) held off the sixth-seeded Pacific Tigers (14-18) 71-70 in overtime.

Jordan Ratinho converted five three-pointers en route to a 20-point performance for the Dons as he topped USF in scoring.

Miles Reynolds paced the Tigers with 20 points.

In the finale, Jock Landale scored 19 points and grabbed 19 rebounds as the second-seeded Saint Mary's Gaels (#20 in the USA Today/Coaches poll, #22 in the Associated Press rankings; 28-4) overcame an early 15-point deficit to upend the tenth-seeded Pepperdine Waves (6-26) 69-66.

Jordan Ford also scored 19 points for the Gaels.

The winners will advance to Monday's semifinal round.

WCC Tournament: LIons (Who Knock Out Pilots), Waves Advance After Opening Day Wins

The West Coast Conference's Men's Basketball Tournament commenced on Friday at the Orelans Arena in Paradise, Nevada, just outside Las Vegas.

In the opener, James Bateman scored 29 points (converting 11 of 12 free throws in the process) as the eighth-seeded Loyola Marymount Lions (11-19) overcame a fifteen-point first-half deficit to upend the ninth-seeded Portland Pilots (10-22), whose season ended with a seven-game losing streak, 78-72.

The Lions will face top-seeded Gonzaga on Saturday.

In the nightcap, Kameron Edwards scored 25 points (in making 11 of 15 shots from the field) as #10-seeded Pepperdine (6-25) shot 70.8 % from the field en route to an 85-69 victory over the seventh-seeded Santa Clara Broncos (11-20).

Trae Berhow added 23 points (on 8-of-10 shooting) to the Waves' coffers.

The Waves will battled second-seeded Saint Mary's on Saturday.
