Kenny Cooper (111') and Marco Pappa (116') each delivered an overtime goal on Wednesday night as the Seattle Sounders defeated the visiting Portland Timbers 3-1 in the quarterfinal round of the US Open Cup tournament.
The Timbers' next match is a Major League Soccer (and Cascadia Cup) contest against the Sounders at CenturyLink Field in Seattle on Sunday at 7:00 PM Pacific Time (ESPN 2).

Gaston Scores Twice As Timbers Knock Off SKC On Road To Get Crack At Sounders In US Open Cup Quarterfinals
At Kansas City, Kansas:
Gaston Fernandez scored twice (30', 68') on Tuesday night as the Portland Timbers knocked off Sporting Kansas City 3-1 on the road in the fifth round of the US Open Cup.
Will Johnson successfully converted a penalty kick in the 57th minute to add to the Timbers' coffers.
The Timbers will take on the Seattle Sounders on July 9 at Tukwila, Washington in the tournament's quarterfinal round.
In the interim, Portland's next Major League Soccer contest will be at home this Saturday night against Sporting Kansas City (8:00 PM Pacific Time, ROOT Sports Northwest).

Gaston Doubles As Timbers Rock Orlando City U-23s To Advance In US Open Cup Tournament

Gaston Fernandez scored twice (11', PK-36') while Taylor Peay added one for good measure in the 68th minute on Tuesday night as the Portland Timbers dominated Orlando City's Under-23 squad from the USL Development League (at the fourth level of American soccer) 3-0 at home in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt US Open.
The Timbers will pay a visit next Tuesday on the winner of Wednesday's Sporting Kansas City-Minnesota United (NASL) match.

Timbers U23s Blow Two-Goal Lead, Drop US Open Cup Match At Home To Arizona United

In the lone Tuesday contest from the second round of the US Open Cup, Kadeem Dacres (84'), London Woodberry (88'), and Daniel Altunez (90'+5) each scored a goal in the final ten or so minutes as the visiting Arizona United Soccer Club (United Soccer Leagues' Pro League, which is in the third level of American soccer) erased a two-goal deficit and knocked off the Portland Timbers U23s (USL PDL) 3-2.
