The two entrants in next month's Super Bowl became known on Sunday.
At Chicago:
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers ran for a touchdown and made a saving tackle on an interception return, defensive lineman B. J. Raji intercepted a pass 18 yards for what turned out to be the game-winning score, and defensive back Sam Shields came up with two interceptions of his own as the Green Bay Packers held off the Chicago Bears 21-14 to win the National Football Conference championship. The Packers will be playing in their fifth Super Bowl (their first in thirteen years). Green Bay had won on three of their four previous tries.
At Pittsburgh:
The Pittsburgh Steelers scored two touchdowns in a span of 47 seconds in the second quarter (a Ben Roethlisberger 2-yard run for a score followed by a 19-yard fumble recovery for a score by William Gay) and then held on for a 24-19 win over the New York Jets in the American Football Conference title game. The Steelers will be playing in their eighth Super Bowl (tying the record set by the Dallas Cowboys) and have won an NFL record six Super Bowl titles in their previous seven attempts.
Super Bowl XLV will take place on Sunday, February 6 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 PM Pacific Standard Time. The contest will be carried on the Fox Television Network.

NFL Playoffs: Bears Dominate Seahawks, Get Packers At Home Next; Jets Back Up Trash Talk With Upset Of Pats In Foxborough
The second round of the National Football League playoffs concluded Sunday with two more divisional playoffs.
At Chicago:
Quarterback Jay Cutler threw for two touchdowns (58 yards to Greg Olsen and 39 to Kellen Davis) and ran for two more (6 and 9 yards respectively) as the Chicago Bears defeated the visiting Seattle Seahawks 35-24 in an NFC divisional playoff game. The Bears will host their archrivals, the Green Bay Packers next Sunday in the NFC Championship Game (12:00 Noon Pacific Time, Fox). It will only be the second playoff encounter in this, the NFL's oldest rivalry (the Bears defeated the Packers 33-14 at home in a Western Division tie-breaking playoff game before defeating the New York Giants 37-9 for the NFL title, also at home). The two NFC North division rivals split their two-game regular-season series, with the Bears winning their home contest 20-17 on September 17 and the Packers, needing a win just to even make the playoffs, winning the rematch on two weeks ago 10-3 at Lambeau Field.
At Foxborough, Massachusetts:
Mark Sanchez completed 16 of 25 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns (one each to Ladainian Tomlinson, Braylon Edwards, and Santonio Holmes) as the New York Jets knocked off the hosts New England Patriots 28-21 to make it to their second straight AFC Championship game. They will face the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road next Sunday starting at 3:30 PM Pacific Time (CBS). The Jets knocked off the Steelers 22-17 in Pittsburgh on December 19.

NFL Playoffs: Steelers Take Advantage Of Ravens Boo-Boos; Packers Turn Falcons Into Fried Chicken
Two divisional playoff games, one in each conference, took place in the National Football League playoffs on Saturday.
At Pittsburgh:
The Pittsburgh Steelers overcame a 21-7 halftime deficit and took advantage of three Baltimore turnovers in the third quarter as they came back to defeat their guests 31-24 in an AFC divisional playoff. Any hope that the Ravens had of pulling the game out effectively evaporated when Ben Roethlisberger, who threw for two touchdowns, hit Antonio Brown with a 58-yard pass completion, setting up Rashard Mendenhall's second touchdown run, this time from two yards out with 93 seconds remaining.
The Steelers will be playing in their third AFC Championship game in three years next Sunday, either at Foxborough, Massachusetts or at home, depending on the outcome of this Sunday's New York Jets-New England Patriots contest.
At Atlanta:

NFL Playoffs: Ravens Pull Away From Chiefs In Second Half; Aaron Rodgers Throws For Three TDs As Packers Pluck Eagles
The opening round of the National Football League playoffs concluded with two Sunday contests.
At Kansas City:
With their defense coming up with three sacks of quarterback Matt Cassel, and with their own QB Joe Sacco throwing for two touchdowns, the Baltimore Ravens dominated the Kansas City Chiefs 30-7 on the road in an AFC opening round match. The loss was the Chiefs' seventh straight playoff setback, an NFL record.
At Philadelphia:
Aaron Rodgers threw for three touchdowns, and James Starks ran for 123 yards as the Green Bay Packers knocked off the homestanding Philadelphia Eagles 21-16. Defensive back Tramon Williams iced the NFC opening round playoff game for the Packers with his end zone interception of a Michael Vick pass with 33 seconds remaining.

Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck threw for four touchdowns and Marshawn Lynch ran 67 yards for the game-clinching score with 3:22 remaining as the Seattle Seahawks became the first team with a losing regular-season record to win a playoff game, 41-36 at home, in an NFC opening round contest, over the defending Super Bowl champions New Orleans Saints. The Seahawks will play next weekend in a divisional playoff game, either at Chicago (if Green Bay wins at Philadelphia this coming Sunday) or Atlanta (if the Eagles beat the visiting Packers).
At Indianapolis:
LaDainian Tomlinson ran for two touchdowns and Nick Folk connected on a 32-yard field goal as time expired as the New York Jets got their revenge for losing last year's AFC title game, beating the Indianoplis Colts 17-16 on the road. The Jets will visit the New England Patriots in a divisional playoff game at Foxborough, Massachusetts next Sunday.
The defeats suffered by the Saints and Colts marked the first time that both of the previous year's Super Bowl combatants were eliminated in the opening round of the playoffs.

Alex Smith threw a 59-yard touchdown pass to Vernon Davis in the third quarter as the San Francisco 49ers (6-10), in what was likely Jim Tomsula's one game as interim head coach, buried the visiting Arizona Cardinals (5-11) 38-7 in the season finale for both teams on Sunday.
The field for the playoffs is now set.
