Stanley Cup Playoffs: Caps (In OT), Preds, Ducks Take Series Openers

The three remaining opening-round series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs commenced on Thursday.

EASTERN CONFERENCE:

At Washington:

Tom Wilson scored the winning goal 5:15 into overtime as the Washington Capitals came back from two goals down to defeat the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 in the opening game of their conference quarterfinal series.



WESTERN CONFERENCE:

At Chicago:

Viktor Arvidsson's first-period goal was all the Nashville Predators----with Pekka Rinne stopping all 29 shots for his second career playoff shutout---needed in their 1-0 opening-round series-opening road win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

At Anaheim, California:

Jakob Silfverborg scored the game-winning power-play goal late in the second period while Ryan Getzlaf scored a goal and had an assist as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the visiting Calgary Flames 3-2 in the opening game of their conference quarterfinal series.
