NCAA Men's Basketball Tourney: It's Zags vs. Tar Heels (Who Hold Off Ducks) For The Marbles

Both national semifinals in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament took place on Saturday at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

In the opener, Nigel Williams-Goss scored 23 points as the Gonzaga Bulldogs (#1 in the West Region; 37-1) held off the South Carolina Gamecocks (#7 in the East Region; 26-11) 77-73 to advance to the first national championship game in school history as the Bulldogs will try to become the first West Coast Conference team since San Francisco in 1955 and '56 to win the national title.

P.J. Dozier topped the Gamecocks with 17 points.

In the nightcap, Kennedy Meeks scored 25 points and came up with the game-winning offensive rebound (one of 14 overall) in the final seconds as the North Carolina Tar Heels (#1 in the South Region; 32-7) held off the Oregon Ducks (#3 in the Midwest Region; 33-6) 77-76 to advance to their second successive title game, hoping to avenge their defeat of last April to Villanova.

Justin Jackson added 22 points to the Heels' coffers.

Tyler Dorsey topped the Ducks with 22 points.

In a battle of number-one seeds the Gonzaga Bulldogs will take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in Monday's national championship game at Glendale, Arizona (6:20 PM PDT, CBS).
