Stanley Cup Playoffs: Senators, Blackhawks Advance; Penguins Take 3-2 Series Lead

Three games were played in the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Thursday.

EASTERN CONFERENCE:

At Pittsburgh:

Tomas Vokoun, in his first playoff start in six years, saved all 31 shots for the shutout while Tyler Kennedy, Douglas Murray, Sidney Crosby, and Kris Letang (power play) each delivered a goal as the Pittsburgh Penguins hammered the visiting New York Islanders 4-0 in game five of their conference quarterfinal series.  The Penguins, who now lead three games to two, can finish off the Islanders with a game-six victory at Uniondale, New York on Saturday.

At Montreal:

Cory Conacher scored twice (once on the power play) while Craig Anderson stopped 33 of 34 shots as the Ottawa Senators, who scored three third-period power-play goals, demolished the Montreal Canadiens 6-1 in game five and won their conference quarterfinal series four games to one.

WESTERN CONFERENCE:

At Chicago:

Marian Hossa scored twice Corey Crawford stopped 21 of 22 shots as the Chicago Blackhawks cruised to a conference quarterfinal-series-clinching 5-1 home win over the Minnesota Wild to oust their guests four games to one.
