Stanley Cup Playoffs: OT Goal Saves Rangers From Elimination; Red Wings Take 3-1 Series Lead; Kings Top Sharks To Take 3-2 Series Advantage

The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued with three games on Thursday.

EASTERN CONFERENCE:

At New York:

Brian Boyle delivered the power-play equalizer midway through the third period, then Chris Kreider delivered the game winner at 7:03 of overtime as the New York Rangers avoided elimination from their conference semifinal series with a 4-3 home win over the Boston Bruins, who still lead the series three games to one and can finish off the Rangers with a game-five home win in Boston on Saturday.

WESTERN CONFERENCE:

At Detroit:

Jakob Kindl (power play) and Daniel Cleary (empty net) each scored a goal and Jimmy Howard turned back all 28 as the Detroit Red Wings blanked the visiting Chicago Blackhawks 2-0 in game four of their conference semifinal series, which the Red Wings lead three games to one and can wrap up with a game-five win in Chicago on Saturday night.

At Los Angeles:

Anze Kopitar, Slava Voynov, and Jeff Carter (empty net) provided the goals while Jonathan Quick provided the stellar goaltending as he saved all 24 shots as the Los Angeles Kings took a three-games-to-two conference semifinal series lead following their 2-0 game-five home shutout over the San Jose Sharks.  The Kings can advance to the conference finals with a victory in San Jose on Sunday.  The Sharks, though, are unbeaten at the HP Pavilion (the "Shark Tank") in this year's playoffs (so, though, are the Kings).
