PURPLE RAIDERS WIN HISTORIC 12TH NCAA D3 TITLE

At Salem, Virginia:

Quarterback Taurice Scott threw for three touchdowns and ran for another on Friday as the Mount Union (Ohio) Purple Raiders (15-0) won their 12th NCAA Division III national football championship, defeating St. Thomas of Minnesota (14-1) 49-35.

The Purple Raiders have now won more national football titles than any other team in any NCAA division.

WARHAWKS GET MEASURE OF PURPLE RAIDERS AGAIN IN NCAA D3 TITLE GAME

At Salem, Virginia:

Quarterback Matt Behrendt threw for 365 yards and four touchdowns on Friday night as the Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks (15-0) extended their winning streak to 32 games with their 43-34 victory over Mount Union (14-1) for their sixth NCAA Division III national football championship in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl.  It was the sixth victory for the Warhawks at the Purple Raiders' expense in seven meetings, all in the D3 title game.  It was the final game for Whitewater head coach Lance Leipold who amassed a record of 109-6 in eight years.   He accepted the head coaching job at the University of Buffalo.

AMOS ALONZO STAGG BOWL: WARHAWKS TOO MUCH FOR PURPLE RAIDERS, WIN FOURTH D3 CROWN IN FIVE YEARS

At Salem, Virginia:

Quarterback Matt Behrendt threw for four touchdowns (two apiece to Jake Kumerow and Tyler Huber) on Friday night while Jordan Ratliffe ran for a pair of scores as Wisconsin-Whitewater (15-0) blindsided Mount Union (15-1) 52-14 in the 41st Amos Alonzo Stagg bowl, enabling the Warhawks to win their fourth NCAA Division III national football championship in the last five years.  It was Wisconin-Whitewater's fourth straight win over the Purple Raiders.  The two schools have met eight times in the last nine years in the national title game.

Just Another D3 Title For The Warhawks

At Salem, Virginia:


In a battle of undefeated teams, Levell Coppage ran one yard for a touchdown as the Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks (15-0) defeated the Mount Union Purple Raiders (14-1) 13-10 on Friday night to win their third consecutive NCAA Division III national football championship, and their fourth in five years---all four titles coming at the expense of the Purple Raiders.  The win was the Warhawks' 45th in a row.

Warhawks Conclude Perfect Season With D3 Title

At Salem, Virginia:

Levell Coppage ran 31 yards for the game-winning touchdown with 77 seconds remaining as Wisconsin-Whitewater defeated Mount Union (Ohio) 38-28 in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl for the NCAA Division III national football championship on Saturday. A winter storm forced the game to start five hour later than originally scheduled. The victory ended the Warhawks' season at 15-0. The Purple Raiders (14-1) suffered their only defeat of the season.
