Quarterback Connor Cook threw for 192 yards and a pair of touchdowns on Saturday night as the Michigan State Spartans (2-0; #5 in the Associated Press poll, #6 in the USA Today/Coaches rankings) avenged their defeat from last year and held off the visiting Oregon Ducks (1-1; #7 AP, #5 Coaches) 31-28 as the Spartans' defense held back the Ducks four times on fourth down including a key stand during the second quarter.
