Bob Simon, the veteran CBS News correspondent who was a longtime fixture on the network's television newsmagazine 60 Minutes, passed away at age 73 on Wednesday night, a result of an automobile accident in New York City.
Mr. Simon, who had been contributing reports on 60 Minutes since 1996, joined CBS News in 1967 as a reporter and assignment editor. His career ranged from covering campus riots to the war in Vietnam to reporting from the network's Tel Aviv bureau to being the CBS News State Department correspondent.
Bob won four Peabody Awards and 27 Emmys.
