NCAA West: Norfolk State Spartans Shock #2-Seeded Mizzou; Gators Bite Cavs; Billikens and MSU Spartans Advance

The West Regional of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament continued on Friday with two games.


At Omaha, Nebraska:

In the first of two games at the CenturyLink Center, Bradley Beal scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the #7-seeded Florida Gators (24-10) manhandled the #10-seeded Virginia Cavaliers (22-10) 71-45.  Casey Prather also scored 14 points (a career high) for the Gators.


In the nightcap, Kyle O'Quinn scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the fifteenth-seeded Norfolk State Spartans (26-9) became only the fifth #15 seed to defeat a #2 seed with their 86-84 stunner over Missouri (30-5).


The Spartans will take on Florida on Sunday.


At Columbus, Ohio:


Kwamain Mitchell, whose three-point basket at the end of the first half tied the game, scored 22 points as #9-seeded Saint Louis (26-7) defeated the #8-seeded Memphis Tigers (26-9) 61-54 in the first of two games at Nationwide Arena.


In the nightcap, Draymond Green's triple-double (24 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists) helped guide top-seeded Michigan State (28-7) dominate sixteenth-seeded Long Island University-Brooklyn (25-9) 89-67.  The Spartans will take on Saint Louis on Sunday.
