NCAA East: Syracuse, Ohio State To Sweet Sixteen

The East Regional of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament continued with three third-round games played on Saturday.


At Pittsburgh:


Dion Waiters scored 18 points while Scoop Jardine added 16 and James Southerland 15 as top-seeded Syracuse (33-2) defeated eighth-seeded Kansas State (22-11) 75-59.


In the second contest at Consol Energy Center, Jared Sullinger scored 18 points as second-seeded Ohio State (29-7) defeated seventh-seeded Gonzaga (26-7) 73-66.


At Albuquerque, New Mexico:


In the one game played at The Pit, Festus Elizi (to go with his 11 rebounds) and Jordan Taylor each scored 14 points as fourth-seeded Wisconsin (26-9) downed fifth-seeded Vanderbilt (25-11) 60-57.  The Badgers will battle Syracuse in the East Regional semifinals in Boston.
