UCLA, MICHIGAN WIN NCAA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

At Mortgage Matchup Center, Phoenix, Arizona:

Gabriela Jaquez scored 21 points on Sunday as the UCLA Bruins won their first women's national championship by winning the NCAA Division I Women's Tournament title game by defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks 79-51.

The Bruins' Lauren Betts, who scored 14 points, was named the tournament' s Most Outstanding Player.

Tessa Johnson led the Gamecocks with 14 points.

At Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis:

Elliot Candeau, named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, scored 19 points on Monday as the Michigan Wolverines outdistanced the Connecticut Huskies 69-63 to win  their first NCAA Division I Men's Tournament championship since 1989.

Alex Karaban paced the Huskies with 17 points.

 

UConn Knocks Off Ducks In PK80 Invitational

At Portland, Oregon:

In Thursday night action from the PK80 Invitational, Terry Larrier scored 18 points to lead the Connecticut Huskies (4-0) to a 71-63 victory over the Oregon Ducks (4-1).

Ducks Hold Off UConn, Claim Fifth Place At Maui Invitational

At Lahaina, Hawaii:

Chris Boucher scored 21 points while Tyler Dorsey added 19 as the Oregon Ducks (4-2; #13 and #12 in the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches polls, respectively) won the fifth-place game in the Maui Invitational on Wednesday by holding off the Connecticut Huskies (2-4) 79-69, despite 27 points from UConn's Jalen Adams.

St. Petersburg Bowl: Thundering Herd Top UConn

At St. Petersburg, Florida:

Freshman quarterback Chase Litton completed 23 of 34 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown while Nick Smith kicked three field goals on Saturday as the Marshall Thundering Herd (10-3) defeated the Connecticut Huskies (6-7) 16-10 in the St. Petersburg Bowl.

Under head coach Doc Holliday (without help from Wyatt Earp), the Thundering Herd are 4-0 in bowl games.

UCONN HUSKIES HOLD OFF KENTUCKY TO WIN MEN'S NCAA NATIONAL BASKETBALL CROWN

At Arlington, Texas:

Shabazz Napier scored 22 points on Monday night as the Connecticut Huskies (32-8), who were seeded #7 in the East Region, won their fourth NCAA Men's Division I Basketball National Championship, holding off the Kentucky Wildcats (29-11; seeded #8 in the Midwest Region) 60-54.  The Huskies led by as many as fifteen points in the first half, only to see the Wildcats cut the deficit to one point on three separate occasions in the second half.  It was Huskies' head coach Kevin Ollie's first NCAA crown in his first tourney appearance as a head coach.

UConn Blasts Louisville To Win NCAA Women's Title; Another Crown For Geno's Girls

At New Orleans:

Breanna Stewart scored 23 points as the Connecticut Huskies (35-4) crushed the Louisville Cardinals 93-60 on Tuesday to win their eighth NCAA Women's Basketball Division I national title, all under head coach Geno Auriemma.  He and the Lady Huskies tied the record held by Tennessee under Pat Summit.

Sooners End BCS Bowl Drought

At Glendale, Arizona:

Landry Jones completed 34 of 49 pass attempts for 429 yards and three touchdowns as Oklahoma (12-2) defeated Connecticut (8-5) in Saturday's Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, ending the Sooners' five-game Bowl Championship Series-game losing streak.

UConn Too Much For Gamecocks

At Birmingham, Alabama:

Andre Dixon ran for 126 and a touchdown Saturday as Connecticut (8-5) defeated South Carolina (7-6) 20-7 in the Papajohns.com Bowl in a game that probably wasn't as close as the final score indicated.
