Swan Song For Chesterfield Pictures

Comedy veteran Andy Clyde stars in "Red Lights Ahead," produced by George R. Batcheller and directed by Roland Reed, with screenplay by Robert Ellis and Helen Logan.  In this one, Grandpa moves in with his brood and stuff happens. This 1936 movie marked the final production and release for Chesterfield Pictures, which had already been folded into the newly-formed Republic Pictures Corporation.

Sappy Birthday, Andy!

Here's a rare treat:  A non-Three Stooges Columbia two-reel comedy short subject.  This one from 1942 stars Andy Clyde in "Sappy Birthday," produced by Del Lord and Hugh McCollum and directed by Harry Edwards with story and screenplay by John Grey and Lloyd A. French.  Co-starring with Andy is Keystone Kops veteran, and a cast member in many a Stooges short, Vernon Dent.
