At Chester, Pennsylvania:
Brian Fernandez scored twice (31', 36') and Diego Valeri once (87') as the Portland Timbers closed out their season-opening 12-game road trip with a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union.
Kacper Przybylko scored the lone Union goal in the 47th minute.
The Timbers, who went 4-6-2 on their road swing (and matched their road victory total from last season in the process), will finally play their home opener at newly-renovated Providence Park this coming Saturday night as they host the Los Angeles Football Club at 7:30 PM Pacific Time (ESPN 2).
