Stanley Cup Playoffs: Stars, Caps Take 3-2 Series Lead; Blues Finish Off Jets

Three games were contested on Saturday as the Stanley Cup Playoffs continue.

WESTERN CONFERENCE:

At Nashville:

Alexander Radulov and Jason Dickinson each scored twice as the Dallas Stars upended the Nashville Predators 5-3 on the road in game five of their conference quarterfinal series.

The Stars can close out the series, which they now lead three games to two, with a home victory back in Big D on Monday.

At St. Louis:

Jaden Schwartz delivered a hat trick (with one of the goals scored on the power play) as the St. Louis Blues held off the visiting Winnipeg Jets 3-2 in game six of their conference quarterfinal series (the first win by a home club in the series) and finished off the Jets four games to two.

The Blues will face the winner of the Dallas-Nashville series (which the Stars lead three games to two).



EASTERN CONFERENCE:

At Washington:

Nicklas Backstrom scored twice (once on the power play) while Braden Holtby stopped all 30 shots as the Washington Capitals (who scored three power-play goals altogether) crowned the visiting Carolina Hurricanes 6-0 in the fifth game of their conference quarterfinal series.

The Caps, who now lead three games to two, can close out the series on Monday with a game-six victory in Raleigh.
