In Saturday Major League Soccer action, Samuel Armenteros scored twice (14', 53') as the Portland Timbers held off the visiting San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 to stretch their MLS unbeaten streak to 11 games (13 in all competitions).
Florient Jungwirth scored the lone Quakes goal in the 87th minute.
Next up for the hot Timbers, a road match against the Los Angeles Football Club this coming Sunday at 3:00 PM Pacific Time (ESPN).
The two clubs will face each other again in the City of Angels three days later in a US Open Cup quarterfinal (7:30 PM Pacific Time; streamed live at timbers.com).
