In the lone Friday Major League Soccer contest, Diego Valeri scored twice (50', 90'+4) as the Portland Timbers snapped their five-game winless run with a 2-0 home victory over the San Jose Earthquakes.
The Quakes' Darwin Ceran picked up two yellow cards in two minutes late in the opening half and was ejected in the 37th minute, reducing the guests to ten men.
Next Saturday night, the Timbers will host FC Dallas at 7:30 PM Pacific Time in a contest to be broadcast over the Timbers' television network (via KPTV, Portland).
