At Tukwila, Washington:
Aaron Kovar (3') and Zack Mathers (PK-54') each scored once as the Seattle Sounders defeated the visiting Portland Timbers 2-1 in Tuesday fourth-round (Round of 32) action from the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament.
Augustine Williams scored the Timbers' lone goal in the 38th minute.
The Timbers will now concentrate on Major League Soccer play as they will travel to Commerce City, Colorado for a Saturday night contest with the Colorado Rapids (6:30 PM Pacific Time, ROOT Sports Northwest).
