The Blues, who still lead three games to two, can finish off the defending Stanley Cup champions with a game-six win on the road in Chicago on Saturday.

Here's a kinescope of the June 20, 1952 ABC Network telecast of Tales of Tomorrow, the episode entitled "The Miraculous Serum." In this one, a doctor invents a serum allowing animals to overcome any illness or injury by magnifying their adaptability. He tests it on an impoverished young woman, who's moments from death. Becoming healthier than she's ever been, she thanks him for "giving her the world," which for her is much more than a figure of speech.

Merle Haggard, Country Music Legend and Outlaw Hero, R.I.P.
Merle Haggard, one of the most successful singers in the history of Country and Western music, and best remembered for songs about his rough early life, which included a three-year sentence at San Quentin for burglary, passed away on Wednesday morning at his California home from double pneumonia on his 79th birthday.
Thirty-eight of Mr. Haggard's singles, including "Workin' Man Blues," and "If We Make It Through December," reached number one on Billboard's Country music charts. Seven of them crossed over into the pop charts.
Perhaps Merle is best remembered for his 1969 hit "Okie From Muskogee," which included these lyrics:

The Connecticut Huskies (38-0) won their fourth consecutive NCAA Women's National Basketball championship on Tuesday night as they overpowered Syracuse 82-51.
Head coach Geno Auriemma won his eleventh title as the Lady Huskies' head coach, more than any other in men's or women's college basketball.
Arguably the most decorated player in the history of the sport, UConn's Breanna Stewart, along with fellow seniors Morgan Tuck and Moriah Jefferson, became the first players in men's or women's basketball to play on national championship teams each year.

Kris Jenkins (who scored 14 points) delivered a three-point buzzer beater (shown here) on Monday night to carry the Villanova Wildcats (35-5) to their first NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament national championship since 1985 as they defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels (33-7) 77-74.
It was the second national title in the history of the Wildcats' men's basketball program.
Marcus Paige, whose three pointer with 4.7 seconds remaining had tied the contest, paced the Heels with 21 points while Joel Berry II added 20 points to the North Carolina coffers.
Phil Booth paced Nova with 20 points while converting six of seven shots from the field while Ryan Arcidiacona, who was named the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player, added 16.
It was the first national title for Wildcats head coach Jay Wright while Roy Williams was unsuccessful in his quest to become the first UNC head coach to win three titles.

Kaka Leads Lions To Home Beatdown Of Timbers
At Orlando, Florida:
In the lone Sunday Major League Soccer contest, Kaka scored a goal (48') and assisted on two others----Seb Hines' score in the 13th minute and Brek Shea's tally in the 32nd---while Kevin Molino successfully converted a penalty kick in the 76th minute as Orlando City overpowered the visiting Portland Timbers 4-1.
Lions' goalkeeper Joe Bendik---who played for the Timbers in 2012 before spending three years with Toronto FC---saved Fanendo Adi's penalty kick in the 42nd minute.
Jack McInerney scored the lone Timbers goal in the 88th minute.
The Timbers will try to regroup before another nationally-televised contest-----at Carson, California against the Los Angeles Galaxy next Sunday evening at 6:30 PM Pacific Time (Fox Sports 1).
In the lone Sunday Major League Soccer contest, Kaka scored a goal (48') and assisted on two others----Seb Hines' score in the 13th minute and Brek Shea's tally in the 32nd---while Kevin Molino successfully converted a penalty kick in the 76th minute as Orlando City overpowered the visiting Portland Timbers 4-1.
Lions' goalkeeper Joe Bendik---who played for the Timbers in 2012 before spending three years with Toronto FC---saved Fanendo Adi's penalty kick in the 42nd minute.
Jack McInerney scored the lone Timbers goal in the 88th minute.
The Timbers will try to regroup before another nationally-televised contest-----at Carson, California against the Los Angeles Galaxy next Sunday evening at 6:30 PM Pacific Time (Fox Sports 1).

NCAA Men's Hoops: It's Nova Vs. Heels For All The Marbles
The semifinal round in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament took place on Saturday with two games contested at NRG Stadium in Houston.
In the opener, Josh Hart scored 23 points (on ten-of-twelve shooting), grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out four assists as the Villanova Wildcasts (34-5), with six players scoring in double figures, shot 71.4% from the field as they destroyed the Oklahoma Sooners (29-8) 95-51 to gain their first appearance in the championship game since winning it all in 1985.
The 44-margin was the largest for a Final Four semifinal.
Sooners star Buddy Hield was held to nine points.
In the nightcap, Brice Johnson and Justin Jackson each scored 16 points as the North Carolina Tar Heels (33-6) overpowered the Syracuse Orangemen (23-14) 83-66, despite 23 points from 'Cuse's Trevor Cooney.
On Monday night in Houston, it will be North Carolina versus Villanova for the National Championship, with the scheduled tip-off for 6:19 PM Pacific Time and will be televised on TBS, marking the first time since 1981 that the title game will air on a television network other than CBS (and a first time for a cable network).

Error-Plagued Steel Melted By Traveling Rattlers In Season Opener

Quarterback Nick Navila threw for five touchdowns, one of them to fullback Mykel Benson (who ran for three others) on Friday night as the Arizona Rattlers destroyed the home-standing---and newly-renamed and re-organized (or is it disorganized?) Portland Steel (ex-Thunder) 80-28 on the road in a nationally-televised mismatch seen in front of an announced crowd of 6,782, many of them having taken advantage of an online ticket giveaway.
The Rattlers scored two touchdowns on interception returns, another on an end-zone fumble recovery, and still another after recovering a Portland fumble on the Steel's one-yard line.
Maybe the Thunder should have been renamed the Melted Plastic instead as Arizona is now 8-0 lifetime against the current Portland AFL franchise.
