It's Kiko To The Rescue!

From Terrytoons in 1936, we present "Kiko Foils The Fox."  In this one, Kiko the Kangaroo rescues a little bird from a fiendish fox.  




Originally released theatrically by 20th Century-Fox and made on behalf of Educational Pictures, this cartoon was produced in New Rochelle, New York by Paul Terry and directed by George Gordon and Mannie Davis, with music by Philip A. Scheib.  Even though the beginning of this film starts with the opening of a TV syndication print that includes the film's original name, this is basically a Castle Films home-market print under the title of "The Foxy Fox!"

Time For A Trip To The Health Farm

From 1936, here's "Farmer Al Falfa in The Health Farm."  In this cartoon, the notorious jewel theif, Wooden Leg Willy, enters the health farm, disguised as a customer.  Can our hero, Farmer Al Falfa, and his canine sidekick, Puddy the Pup, catch Willy and bring him to justice?



This is a TV print, which may have been seen as a segment in Paul Terry's Barker Bill Cartoon Show, which aired on CBS from 1953 to 1955.

What's Bugging Him?

From Terrytoons in 1939, we present "The Tempermental Lion."  An angry lion is out for revenge on the hunter who had captured and had him sent to the zoo.  With story by John Foster and music by Phil Scheib, this cartoon, produced in New Rochelle, New York by Paul Terry and released by 20th Century-Fox, was directed by Connie Rasinski.

PUT OUT THAT LIGHT!

Time For An Early Sound Cartoon

From 1928, here's Farmer Al Falfa starring in "Dinner Time," part of the Aesop's Fables series filmed in New York City, produced by Amadee J. Van Beuren, directed by series creator Paul Terry and co-directed by John Foster.  This was one of the very first synchronized sound animated cartoons.  It was premiered in New York City on September 1, 1928 and released by Pathe Film Exchange on October 14, a month before Walt Disney's "Steamboat Willie, " which premiered on November 28 at the 79th Street Theater, also in New York City.



Paul Terry, who was not happy about the added cost of sound to his films, left Fables Studios not long after this film was released and launch a new cartoon studio with animator Frank Moser.  This was the studio that became known as Terrytoons. 

Here He Comes Once Again To Save The Day!

From 1951, here's Mighty Mouse starring in "Goons From The Moon."  This cartoon, made in New Rochelle, New York by Terrytoons, with story by Tom Morrison and music by Phil Scheib, was produced by Paul Terry and directed by Connie Rasinski and was released theatrically by 20th Century Fox.

Gandy's Swan Song

Here is the last Gandy Goose cartoon, "Barnyard Actor," produced by Terrytoons in New Rochelle, New York and released in 1955 by 20th Century-Fox.  In this one, our hero encounters a fox and a rooster that is , let's say, full of himself.  This cartoon, produced by Paul Terry, with story by Tom Morrison, music by Phil Scheib, uncredited animation by the imcomperable Jim Tyer and uncredited voice characterization by Arthur Kay and Bradley Bolke, was directed by studio veteran Connie Rasinski. 

Kiko's Swan Song

From 1937, here's Kiko the Kangaroo, appearing in his final Terrytoons cartoon, "Kiko's Cleaning Day."  In this one, our hero has trouble cleaning the house.  Of course, Ozzie the Ostrich is no help, whatsoever.

Time For Gandy, Boys and Girls

It's been a while, but we have, from 1938, a Gandy Goose cartoon entitled "Doomsday."  It was one of Gandy's earliest cartoons, and one of the first Terrytoons to be made in Technicolor.

"Uncle Tom's Cabin," The TerryToons Way
