At Bay Lake, Florida:
Jeremy Ebobisse (59') and Sebastian Blanco (66') each scored a goal on Monday as the Portland Timbers, who, despite David Zuparic's red-card ejection (75'), held off the Los Angeles Galaxy 2-1 in the MLS is Back Tournament Group F opener for both clubs.
The victory marked the Timbers' first competitive match since their 1-0 home victory over Nashville SC on March 8.
Javier Chicharito Hernandez scored his first Major League Soccer goal for the Galaxy in the 88th minute.
Chicharito had a chance to put the Galaxy on the scoreboard first, but his 12th-minute penalty kick was saved by Portland's Steve Clark.
The Timbers' next tournament match is set for this coming Saturday as they take on the Houston Dynamo at 5:00 PM Pacific Time.
