TIGERS ROLL TIDE AS CLEMSON BURIES 'BAMA FOR SECOND NATIONAL TITLE IN THREE YEARS

At Santa Clara, California:

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns (one each to Justyn Ross, Tee Higgins, and Travis Etienne [who also ran for two scores]) on Monday night as the second-seeded Clemson Tigers (15-0) ran roughshod over the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (14-1) by scoring 30 unanswered points en route to a 44-16 fist-beating of the defending champs in the College Football Playoff's National Championship Game as the Tigers won their second national title in the last three years and became the first major college program to win 15 games since 1897.
