Quakes Hold Off Timbers At Home, Prevent Portland From Clinching Playoff Berth, Snap DV8's Consecutive Games Scoring Streak

At San Jose, California:

Vako Qazaishvili (16) and Danny Hoesen (49') each scored once as the San Jose Earthquakes kept their playoff hopes alive with a 2-1 Saturday night Major League Soccer home victory over the Portland Timbers.

Sebastian Blanco scored the Timbers' lone goal in the 87th minute.

The defeat kept the Timbers from clinching an MLS Cup Playoff berth.  Portland's Diego Valeri saw his MLS-record consecutive games scoring streak snapped at nine.

The Timbers' next game will be at home against DC United on Sunday, October 15 at 4:30 PM Pacific Time (ROOT Sports Northwest).
