'51 Studebaker Commander V-8

Here's a magazine ad for the 1951 Studebaker Commander V-8.



That year, the South Bend automaker became the first independent to offer an overhead-valve V-8 engine, available on the Commander and Land Cruiser.

In this Paul Hesse photo, we see a Commander V-8 four-door sedan with "suicide" doors in the back.
