Stanley Cup Playoffs: Devils (In 2 OT), Rangers Win Game Sevens

Two games, both in the Eastern Conference, were played as the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs came to a close on Thursday.

At Sunrise, Florida:

Adam Henrique scored his second goal of the game at 3:47 of the second overtime period as the New Jersey Devils defeated the Florida Panthers 3-2 on the road in the seventh and deciding game of their conference quarterfinal series.  The Devils will take on the Philadelphia Flyers in a conference semifinal best-of-seven series.  Devils goalie Martin Brodeur saved 43 of 45 shots.

At New York:

Second-goal goals from Marc Staal and Dan Giraldi, along with solid goaltending from Henrik Lundqvist (who stopped 26 of 27 shots), carried the New York Rangers to a 2-1 game-seven home win over the Ottawa Senators, enabling them to win their opening-round series.  The Rangers will next face the Washington Capitals in a conference semifinal series.
