The Canadian Football League's Grey Cup Playoffs got under way on Sunday with the two divisional semifinal contests.
Eastern Division:
At Montreal:
Quinton Porter ran one yard for the game-winning touchdown (his second of the game) in overtime as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats dethroned the two-time defending Grey Cup champions Montreal Alouettes 52-44 on the road in the Eastern Division semifinal. The Ticats will travel to Winnipeg to face the Blue Bomber's in next Sunday's Eastern Division final.
Western Division:
At Edmonton, Alberta:
The Edmonton Eskimos, with first-half touchdowns from linebacker Damaso Munoz (who returned a fumble 77 yards), running back Jerrome Messam (seven-yard run), and wide receiver Jason Barnes (four-yard reception of a Ricky Ray pass), defeated the visiting Calgary Stampeders 33-19 in their Western Conference semifinal. The Eskimos will travel to Vancouver for Next Sunday's Western Conference Final against the British Columbia Lions for the right to play in the Grey Cup Final.
