Timbers Drop Home Opener To LAFC

At Portland, Oregon:

Carlos Vela (6'), Diego Rossi (34'), and Latif Blessing (54') each scored once on Saturday as the Los Angeles Football Club spoiled the Portland Timbers' home opener at newly-renovated Providence Park 3-2 in Major League Soccer action.

Cristhian Paredes (46') and Brian Fernandez (85') each scored once for the Timbers.

The Timbers' next match will be at Tacoma, Washington against the Seattle Sounders in fourth-round play in the Lamar Hunt US Open at 7:30 PM Pacific Time on June 12; Portland's next MLS contest will be home against the Houston Dynamo on June 22 at 8:00 PM Pacific Time (ROOT Sports Northwest; both games will be streamed live over ESPN+).
